Dry Stone Walling Courses – Learn with The Stone Ranger
Fancy learning a proper hands-on skill out in the Derbyshire countryside?
I’m running small, practical dry stone walling courses on the edge of the Peak District, using local Derbyshire gritstone. This isn’t classroom stuff—you’ll be building real wall, in a real setting, learning it the proper way.
I’ve got over 15 years’ experience building miles of dry stone wall, and for the past 3 years I’ve also been teaching with the National Park—so you’re in safe hands.

What to expect:
•Start 9:00am – Finish 4:00pm
•Full tool talk and safety briefing at the start of the day
•All tools provided
•Fully insured
•Tea & coffee breaks through the day
•Bring your own lunch
•Small groups with plenty of guidance
Places are limited to just 4 people per day to keep it hands-on and make sure everyone gets proper time on the wall.
You’ll be working on a live walling project, so you’ll walk away with real experience—not just theory.
By the end, you’ll understand how to build a solid section of wall from the ground up.
This isn’t about ticking boxes—it’s about learning a proper skill and having a good day outdoors doing it.
You won’t receive a formal accredited certificate, but you will get a Stone Ranger recognition for completing the course.
